Welcome! Welcome to a new year at FFBMCO! Before we officially begin our quest for glory, I would like to say a few words. Before we get into the notes and topics of the 5th year, let’s first congratulate and celebrate FFBMCO owner personal milestones that occurred since we last gathered in the Great Hall.
Two of our former bachelors are now married to muggle born dimes. Joe Kline of The Replacements & Nick Haithcock of 954 Vice City both side “ I do” at the same altar James and Lily Potter did so many years ago. Joe got married March 25th and Nick April 15th. Congratulations gentlemen.
Now we as a community must acknowledge the loss of two very fine people, who were sitting here amongst us the last 4 seasons enjoying this adventure with us. I would like you all, please, to stand, and raise your glasses, to 2014 FFBMCO Champion Kyle Herrick of Default Team Name, and Joe Dunbar owner of Burkhardt Bandits. Two owners who were here since day one are now just FFBMCO history. We will never forget them though. Any FFBMCO owner who leaves us will be placed into the league Graveyard with some information that sums up their tenure with us. You can click “Graveyard” at the top of this site to see for yourself.
However it does not do to dwell on the past and forget to live. So with that, we will have two new FFBMCO owners join our brotherhood, both of which have studied abroad in Athens, Ohio. Nick Speck has taken over Default Team Name which has now been transformed into Norahsaurus Rex and Mike Lutz has taken over Burkhardt Bandits which has now been transformed into LM’s Gamblers.
It’s a treat to have these 2 new gentleman join us at FFBMCO, but which houses to place them? The sorting hat, please.
Well done sorting hat, I agree. New brothers, your login information was emailed to you so you should be able to log into http://But based on the new insertions, some shuffling around will need to occur in order to maximize rivalries & keep the 4 FFBMCO houses at 5 teams a piece.
Hmm, yes, very cluttered indeed…
There we have it. The Replacements have swapped spots with Lord of the Reamed to enhance the PNC ties in House Fumble and stimulate the beginnings of a Wadsworth/Medina situation in House Move as Lord of the Reamed recently moved to the Medina/Wadsworth border. The Golden Boy Farm leaves House Red Right and fills the vacancy in House Drive, where our most boisterous owner now has 3 rivals to instigate every season (FunkyEngineThatCould, Timmy Derp’s Derpers, Leonard Washingtons). A most sincere congratulations to House Move for bringing in 3 of a possible 4 House Cups. The other House Cup went to the now extinct Default Team Name from House Fumble, meaning the entire Clowns Conference has 0 House Cups. Clowns Conference, I say this to all 10 of you: Happiniess can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
With the league alignment all set, let it be known that each owner must submit their 5 keepers within Yahoo by 11:59pm on Monday 08/21.
Now the draft. The 5th installment of FFBMCO’s draft will take place Thursday 8/31 at 8:00pm EDT.
Based on user feedback last year, the time each owners has per draft pick will be increased from 60 seconds to 90 seconds. The common reason for this was to increase the probability of trading during the draft. I am an old wizard so 60 seconds was plenty of time to me, but FFBMCO aims to please.
Due note that all 2017 season payments should be made by the start of the draft on the 31st.
Now as is FFBMCO tradition, we have a revolving door for the post of 3rd Commissioner. Contained in this Boggart Closet is our 3rd commissioner for 2017.
Now this year 4 owners have thrown their names into the post. Each will remain anonymous. Their thoughts and feelings will be tied to simply Candidate 1, Candidate 2, Candidate 3, and Candidate 4. You may peruse them below.
CANDIDATE 1
1. What is FFBMCO’S biggest strength?
The AMAZING competitors
2. What is FFBMCO’S biggest weakness?
The HORRENDOUS dictator
3. Thoughts/ideas on how to address that issue?
Mutiny?
4. How do you feel about the starting QB Insurance Policy?
Frustrating but necessary in a 20 person league
5. How do you feel about FFBMCO’s waiver wire setup?
See previous answer
6. How do you feel about each team being required to keep 5 players?
TOO MANY!!!(ala a black jack dealer busting). In a 20 person league 3 keepers is plenty and makes the draft relevant past the first round
7. How do you feel about FFBMCO’s scoring, specifically the bonus points that are awarded?
Honestly, I love it. If you have a player who has a great game you deserve it. When you get the bonus it’s always great, when your opponent gets it it’s always the dumbest rule ever. Such is life
8. How do you feel about the monthly prizes that have been awarded in the past? Is there a prize that hasn’t been given that should be?
I feel month one prize should always be a team personalized apparel(maybe doesn’t always have to be a hat). After that amazon digital gift cards every month(let’s be honest, you can get anything on amazon and don’t have to deal with literal mail that only Commish even realizes still exists)
9. Any ideas to tweak/update/change the user experience on the FFBMCO website and or Facebook group?
Shaun Herrick is the greatest and his website is perfection. But I am always open to suggestions.
10. Will you bring any fresh/new ideas to the commissioning unit to benefit the league? If so , what?
Absolutely push for 3-4 keepers instead of 5. See how it goes. This league is meant to be a franchise and not a season so I don’t want to destroy that, but I do want the draft to be more relevant and teams with injuries and just disappointing players cause an owner to completely lose hope of any chance of winning
11. What should happen if someone performs the unthinkable and earns a perfect season? Should they get the entire pot that year? Be immortalized on the website forever? Get something else and if so paid for by whom?
If anyone gets a perfect season, they should not take other participants winnings, that’s just dumb. They should get a free entry the following year subsidizes by all 19 other participants paying an extra $3(this has to be agreed upon first obviously) and they get one rule they can impose on the dictator of the league
12. Any closing remarks?
I want to be commissioner and I want to have fun. I also will support any and all suggestions that directly contradict Brian Lilley-Trump
CANDIDATE 2
1. What is FFBMCO’S biggest strength? Rollin around fuckin the hoes at night.

7. How do you feel about FFBMCO’s scoring, specifically the bonus points that are awarded? Your girl was trickin while you was draped in your county blues.
8. How do you feel about the monthly prizes that have been awarded in the past? Is there a prize that hasn’t been given that should be? I ain’t been out a second and already gotta do some motherfucking chin checkin.

11. What should happen if someone performs the unthinkable and earns a perfect season? Should they get the entire pot that year? Be immortalized on the website forever? Get something else and if so paid for by whom? Man, fuck a bitch.
12. Any closing remarks? Bitches ain’t shit but hoes and tricks!
CANDIDATE 3
1. What is FFBMCO’S biggest strength?
Dedication. Dedication to the league from all 20 owners is what separates this league from any other league I’m in. The dedication (and extreme amount of free time) from Brian and Shaun is truly enjoyable and I love reading the weekly newsletter. The ability of the league to evolve and be competitive is essential which all stems from dedication.
2. What is FFBMCO’S biggest weakness?
The 3 strike penalty is too harsh. At the end of the day this league is amazing and incredibly fun. I hope to be a part of it for another 20 years and that’s what makes it great. The reality is that we all make mistakes. I believe 3 strikes during a lifetime of ownership is too easy to rack up. I do not think the punishment fits the crime here.
In addition to the three strike rule I believe the “full roster rule” needs to be amended. In some scenarios it may be advantageous for a team to only start 4/5 slots with active players. For example, no owner should be forced by rules to drop a valuable player (or defense) just to fill a roster spot with a garbage 5th string player who probably won’t get any points that week anyways. In this scenario having a full roster actually may hurt your team’s chances of making the playoffs over the course of the season. Given the 20 team league some owners are naturally going to have a hard time filling out a full roster with active players when they are hit by bye weeks and injuries. The current rules may force you to drop one of your valuable players just because you have 3 people on bye and 2 injuries. I believe each owner has a right to manage their team as they see fit.
3. Thoughts/ideas on how to address that issue?
An alternative is that a team must be voted out of the league with a 60% majority to receive a lifetime ban. No one likes when a team doesn’t fill a roster spot and you worst enemy beats them by a few points. I get it. However that is part of fantasy football and I believe that increasing the competitiveness of the league is the true solution to this problem.
4. How do you feel about the starting QB Insurance Policy?
I believe this is a fair policy. The goal is to have a competitive league such that each team has a chance to win every week. The rule is not perfect, but it is a good solution to a complex problem.
5. How do you feel about FFBMCO’s waiver wire setup?
I like it. I believe that it allows teams to climb from the bottom up. I would be open to having a random drawing of the bottom five teams similar to the NBA lottery draft which may prevent tanking. Overall, I value the idea that the worst teams in this league need all the help they can get and the waiver policy supports that.
6. How do you feel about each team being required to keep 5 players?
I believe that 5 players is 1 too many. I believe that 4 would be the perfect amount of players to keep in order to maintain the dynasty feel of the league while also increasing competition from year to year.
7. How do you feel about FFBMCO’s scoring, specifically the bonus points that are awarded?
Generally I am not a big fan of the bonus points system. I believe this league is already heavily weighted based on which teams have the big name players. Generally, it is the big name players that get the bonuses which in turn allows the teams that already have advantages to cash in on the bonuses which widens the gap between the good teams and the bad teams.
8. How do you feel about the monthly prizes that have been awarded in the past? Is there a prize that hasn’t been given that should be?
I like all of the monthly prizes, the commissioners have done a good job at keeping these light and fun. I think these prizes help keep the league fun for everyone.
9. Any ideas to tweak/update/change the user experience on the FFBMCO website and or Facebook group?
I would vote to have less lame harry potter quotes from Brian on the Facebook group page.
10. Will you bring any fresh/new ideas to the commissioning unit to benefit the league? If so , what?
I would like to see more interaction and communication throughout the league. I think opening invites to owners for tailgate parties would be fun.
11. What should happen if someone performs the unthinkable and earns a perfect season? Should they get the entire pot that year? Be immortalized on the website forever? Get something else and if so paid for by whom?
I think they should receive the standard pay out for the championship win, be immortalized on the website as well as receive a lump sum payout of $1,000 paid by Brian himself.
12. Any closing remarks?
I’m looking forward to another year in FFBMCO, I love this league and I hope to keep it intact for years to come by increasing competitiveness while rewarding good team decisions. I hope to make an impact on this league this year and give a little something back.
CANDIDATE 4
1. What is FFBMCO’S biggest strength?
Organization and commitment to continuously making the league/season better.
2. What is FFBMCO’S biggest weakness?
Lack of full commitment from all 20 members as well as analytical insight for league owners. Bonus scoring system. Part of me wants to look into removing kickers and defense from this league being there are only 8-10 that truly make an impact week over week in each category and being there are 20 teams this is another item that challengers the competitiveness of the league. I’d rather see IDP( defensive player) added over kicker and d remaining.
3. Thoughts/ideas on how to address that issue?
Evalauate current and former owners to ensure their heart and soul are still into it. Raise the yearly fee!! Look into some technology to provide stats and metrics to league! Get rid of bonus scoring immediately!
4. How do you feel about the starting QB Insurance Policy?
Feel like a founding father on this current policy but I do think for the size of the league this policy is fair and can help maintain competitiveness in league.
5. How do you feel about FFBMCO’s waiver wire setup?
There are 20 teams, this works.
6. How do you feel about each team being required to keep 5 players?
I feel that the basis of a dynasty style league has to be rooted on majority of your starting roster being keepers. 5 is a solid number to keep your core starting roster that scores the majority of your points.
7. How do you feel about FFBMCO’s scoring, specifically the bonus points that are awarded?
I am not a fan at all of the bonus scoring system. This is probably my biggest pain point with this league. It is hard enough to win a game in a 20 team league and I shouldn’t have a fluke occurence be the reason I end up losing a game where without the bonus I could have still managed to win. This is not a common item in most fantasy leagues and I personally feel this greatly impacts the competiveness of the games week by week. CUT IT OUT
8. How do you feel about the monthly prizes that have been awarded in the past? Is there a prize that hasn’t been given that should be?
Monthly prizes are fantastic. Categories have been great so no complaints here.
9. Any ideas to tweak/update/change the user experience on the FFBMCO website and or Facebook group?
10. Will you bring any fresh/new ideas to the commissioning unit to benefit the league? If so , what?
I do not reveal my secrets fo free.
11. What should happen if someone performs the unthinkable and earns a perfect season? Should they get the entire pot that year? Be immortalized on the website forever? Get something else and if so paid for by whom?
I do not think if they go undefeated they should get the entire pot at all (2007 patriots). I do think a $20 spot from each member of the league is mandatory to pay the owner of team who went undefeated. Being a rare occurence shouldn’t negatively impact the league. Still gotta win the ship and still gotta pay the winner of the ship. If they are undefeated all season I’d say they have a good shot at ship, but we play to win the game.
12. Any closing remarks?
Easily the trillest guy in the league and can bring an outside perspective to the league, opinions/feelings about other owners in this league and an unwavering dedication to continue to make this league even better!
On the evening of the draft, each owner present in the draft will cast a vote for 1 of the 4 candidates. Once all votes are tallied, the person behind the closet will pridefully come out of the closet and be known to all of us through the coronation of the 2017 FFBMCO Champion. And as a reminder, the role of the 3rd commissioner is outlined in the rules section at the top of the site.
Now I beg your pardon for a pick me up of sorts if you will. We cannot choose our fate, but we can choose our players. Be careful in knowing that. For owners who haven’t experienced much success yet, keep in mind that my friend Fawkes here is routinely born again from the ashes. Is there much difference between Fawkes and say Dirt Mane? Best in the World? 954 Vice City? The 3 teams mentioned struggled, persevered, and were reborn with success. It is important to fight, and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then could irrelevance be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated.
And now for a special treat…the monthly contest prizes will be…whatever the winner chooses within the budget. If you want $25 worth of chocolate frogs, go for it. If you want $25 worth of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, go for it…Alas! Do take caution for the ear wax flavor.
Now if you’ll pardon me, I am an old man. I get tired faster than I used to. I’m afraid I’m going to have to turn in for the night, but let me leave you with this…People find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right. Madam Hooch, the floor is yours. Goodnight.
I want a nice clean season…from all of you! First thing’s first, you login to your FFBMCO account, stare at your screen, put your hand out and yell I’M TIGHT!
That’s it! Good, good! You will be competent owners in no time! Keep working on this gents, and I truly believe that you will all be tight. However…only one of you will soar! BEST OF LUCK!
HOORAY FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
BROWNS WILL GO UNDEFEATED AND WIN THE SUPERBOWL! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!
