Symbolism…would ya just look at it? How fitting that the same week Hurricane Patricia was gaining power and heading towards Mexico, FFBMCO had a hurricane get whipped up due to an underlying and unprepared for QB Insurance Rule technicality.
As Patricia got stronger over the ocean, the anxiety and angst got stronger for certain FFBMCO owners.
Then the weekend came and Patricia was almost instantly downgraded to a Tropical Storm, minimizing the damage and destruction it could have caused…and the NFL games were played and because of the way everything played out, this league hurricane evaporated into a refreshing mist and didn’t cause any damage at all in what could have been a catastrophic butterfly effect of suck. But why worry about the negatives of what could have happened when in reality nothing happened? We are all safe and healthy thanks in part to Chuck Deals’ prayers.
That said, the QB Insurance Rule showed it’s imperfection and vulnerability and the need to come up with a system to remediate that was brainstormed amongst your commissioners. Rules cannot and should not be changed midseason, but the rule detailed below is how FFBMCO will operate starting this offseason:
QB Inheritance Rule:
-Teams are allowed to keep 0 or 1 quarterback as part of their 5 keepers
-If 1 quarterback is kept, no quarterbacks can be drafted
-If no quarterback is kept, one quarterback can be drafted
-The FFBMCO owner automatically inherits the backups to whichever quarterback is on their roster, meaning if the existing quarterback is hurt or benched, only that FFBMCO owner can pick up the backup (no need to contact the league, no need to act within a certain timeframe etc.)
-The FFBMCO has the right to drop the quarterback he kept or drafted to pickup/claim an available quarterback that plays for an NFL team that isn’t being held by any of the 19 other owners as long as there is not more than 1 quarterback on the FFBMCO team
Bye Week Exception:
-With 32 NFL teams and 20 FFBMCO teams, there will always be a pool of 12 available quarterbacks to pick up during the starting quarterbacks’ bye week
-As soon as the bye week is over, the FFBMCO owner drops whichever quarterback (and by definition the ability of inheriting that quarterbacks’ backups) he does not want
Strikes will be applied if:
-An FFBMCO owner has two QBs on their roster other than their starting QBs’ bye week
-An owner does not drop one of the quarterbacks as soon as the bye week game has concluded
Scenario:
-Owner has Ben Roethlisberger and he is hurt in week 7
-Owner can pick up Michael Vick at any time he wishes, and he is the only owner allowed to do so
-Michael Vick is hurt in week 8
-Owner can pick up Landry Jones at any time he wishes, and he is the only owner allowed to do so
-Week 9 the Steelers are on a bye
-Owner can pick up any existing starting QB in the FA pool
-If another FFBMCO owner also has his starting QB on a bye and puts a claim in on the same player, it will come down to waiver priority (as always)
-As soon as the “plug in” quarterbacks’ NFL game is over, the owner must drop the starting QB of his choice so that his roster only has 1 QB on it
If there are any questions please contact a commissioner or post them to the Forum. Again this will not be implemented until the current season concludes.
***This info should be taken into account as you think forward to next year (so keep it in mind for trades you execute this year as well as your 5 keepers for next year)***
In an effort of goodwill, the FFBMCO league office is announcing that no players will receive any strikes from week 7 matchups, and all existing strikes are permanently expunged from the record. The original 20 owners all have clean slates.
Carry on, and be bout that 1 QB life.
This is the best idea the three of you came up with?
Can we vote for three new commissioners next year?
How have you not been relegated out of the league yet for being shitty 3 years on a row?
Your silly rules keep the man down!
